Eastern Airways - Why travel any other way?

Incident: Eastern Airways Jetstream 41 at Dyce, engine fire after second aborted take-off.

An Eastern Airways Jetstream JS41, registration G-MAJJ performing flight EZE15W from Aberdeen Dyce to Humberside, with 28 virtual drunken Scottish passengers on board, was about three seconds in to take-off roll on runway 16 when the captain decided to abort take-off due to a configuration warning. The captain vacated the runway to the right to sort out the problem and run the checklists. According to Virtual Aviation Herald, the crew suspected a failed start lock on the left hand engine which wasn't removed properly during the after start procedure. Non-normal indications of torque, exhaust gas temperature and rotations per minute lead to this conclusion. The crew started another attempt to remove the start lock to make sure the engine was secure for take-off. After resuming taxi back to runway 16 the captain lined up again on runway 16 for a second attempt, already using the contingency fuel. However, the configuration warning appeared again when torque reached 40%. The pilot decided to utter "jebem ti avion mala kurva" and vacate to the right to try to remove the start lock again. During this attempt, the left hand engine caught fire due to excessive EGT values. The pilot then decided to call it a day, open the door and tell everybody to get the f*ck out of the aircraft for a barbecue in the proximity of the left hand fuselage. According to Virtual Aviation Herald there were no injuries and the aircraft is still on the ground 2 hours after the incident.
