Und das mit dem Backup des neu aufgesetzten Systems habe ich schon vor Jahren aufgegeben. Das eine Mal wo ich es gebraucht hätte, war das Backup so alt dass es mit der aktuellen Backup-Software nicht mehr kompatibel war Backup für Daten, ja (aber auch das mache ich händisch), für's System halte ich das für vertane Zeit.

Tu dir keinen Zwang an Aber die haben 1.) Online day, 2.) Tower Exam und sind 3.) Engländer - es wird sie eher marginal interessieren wo wir parken wollen. Ist nicht wie gestern, wo sie sich freuen wenn mal ein paar kommen.

Dein Linkt führt übrigens zum UK Controller Plugin. Da kann man einen Stand requesten, wenn man online ist. Das wäre dann evtl eine Möglichkeit.

First of all, KuMi is - in computer terms - very old. It exists since 2002, and has taken place more than 1100 times since then. It takes place on Wednesday evening (UTC) every week, and has only been cancelled twice during that time. The first time was the 1st anniversary of 9-11, the second time it was after a good friend from our group had been killed in the 2015 Eurowings crash.

Technically, KuMi is a flight simulator group flight, performed as a fly-in to a previously specified airport. The challenge, or goal, is to land exactly at 2200h lcl German time, which is 2000z during daylight savings time, and 2100z for the rest of the year.

The pilot who lands closest to 2200lcl is the "winner" - and has the obligation to select the destination airport for the following week and present it in our forum.

The pilot who lands farthest away from 2200lcl - earlier or later - is the "cook". His obligation is to select a recipe from the region of our destination and post this recipe in the forum. Some of us use these recipes in their own kitchen.

This is why it's called KuMi - "Kulinarischer Mittwoch". This is German and means "culinaric Wednesday".

Luckily, for the cook it is not required to have any idea what he is doing when posting a recipe. Which, of course, does not apply for the pilots. Most if not all of us are quite experienced, some being private or commercial pilots in real life. We know well how to fly, IFR or VFR, and we also know how to organize ourselves when approaching an airport with no ATC present. Well, mostly, at least.

But we always welcome ATC at our destination and often request it before the flight.

Sometimes, at rare occasions, it may happen that we are not as attentive as we probably should be. This is because we are busily chatting on our Discord server during the flight, and one or the other spirited beverage consumed might play a role as well.

Quite often, when ATC has been active, we're invited to come back soon, which puts us into kind of a dilemma. On one hand, we sure would like to, on the other hand we tend to pick destinations where we have never been before. Or at least not for a very long time. Sometimes, however, we select these destinations for one of our regular "normal" group flights. Except for the one at the end of the year - then, we are all flying into Kai Tak.

Common KuMi expressions:
"Next Desti Please" - Notice to the winner not to forget his task (as if he could)
"Hunger" - Reminder for the cook to get his a** into the virtual kitchen
"F5 F5 F5" - Enhanced reminder, when #1 didn't work

So. Heute kurz und bündig. Schärft eure IFR- und ATC Skills, stellt genügend Bier bereit (out of cockpit wird wohl nicht drin sein), und geht vorher noch Pipi machen, denn es geht Into the Madhouse.

Zum Airport gibt's nicht viel zu sagen, außer dass er groß, laut und voll ist. Zuletzt waren wir 2006 dort, es ist durchaus also mal wieder an der Zeit.

Schreiben, kochen und gewinnen werden reine Glückssache sein, also verwendet nicht zu viel Zeit auf die Planung. Die ATC wird's schon richten.

Szenerien gibt es von Asobo (im Sim) und von Inibuilds - hier mag jeder wählen was ihm lieber ist.

Beides ist Müll. Dieser ganze Online- und Nervware-Zwang hat schon viel zu sehr um sich gegriffen und hat eigentlich in einem Simulator nix verloren. Aber die Mehrheit der Menschen will es ja offensichtlich so haben. Also müssen wir da durch. Oder X-Plane fliegen.

Der Unterschied ist aber, wenn der ganze MS-Kram funktioniert, läuft tatsächlich nur der MSFS und nicht noch irgendeine andere nervende App. Steam muss immer mit laufen.

Und Steam erzählt dir dann mit entnervender Klicki-Bunti-Beharrlichkeit was du alles tolles spielen sollst und wie du es mit deinen Freunden teilen kannst

Der Hauptfaktor für die Ladezeit ist immer noch, wie bei allen anderen Sims davor, der AI Traffic. Je mehr Modelle und Varianten aktiviert und einzulesen sind, um so länger dauert der Start. Dazu gehören natürlich auch die ganzen GSX-Modelle. Das reine Datenvolumen hat damit nicht viel zu tun (das sind eh überwiegend Texturen), und ein paar hundert Szenerien fallen gegenüber tausenden von AI-Modellen und Varianten auch nicht wirklich ins Gewicht.

Markus, du kannst das Verzeichnis auch auf der gleichen Festplatte/Partition verschieben. Ich hab gewisse Bedenken wenn der ganze Kram in %appdata% ist - nicht dass der ganze Content bei einer Deinstallation mal eben gelöscht wird und man dann alles neu runterladen muss.

Ah, das ist in der Tat neu. Da hat MSFS-Murphy wohl ein paar Daten gefressen

Content-Ordner (Official und Community) in ein gesondertes Verzeichnis schieben, falls nicht schon geschehen und das ganze Ding deinstallieren und neu installieren. Dauert 15 Minuten. Beim Download des Content dann das gesonderte Verzeichnis auswählen.
