    Today marks the end of Jamaica's flag carrier, Air Jamaica, which is being acquired by Caribbean Airlines; the Jamaican government will also own 16% of Carribbean Airlines, which will operate flights from KIN and MBJ which wre formerly operated by JM.

    The Jamaican government will also pick up the debts of JM ... valued at about $800m.

    Over the years, JM has operated a variety of different types - 727s, A310s, A340s and A320s and at one time, in the mid 1980s, it wet leased a 747 from Aer Lingus.

    Auch wenn ich es sehr bedauere - auch aus persönlichen Gründen - war es trotzdem absehbar. Da auch die Privatisierung nicht geglückt ist und die Übernahme durch Spirit Airlines genauso vor den Baum ging war das Ende eigentlich besiegelt. Am meisten werde ich die farbenfrohen Flieger vermissen.
