ZitatAccident: Intersky DH8C at Elba on Jul 10th 2010, car windscreen shattered upon takeoff
An Intersky de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration OE-LSB, departed Elba's runway 16.Italy's National Agency for Flight Safety (ANSV) reported without providing a time stamp, flight number or destination of the flight, that a car had stopped on the road near the begin of runway 16. The air pressure produced by the departing Dash 8 shattered the windshield of that car and caused the injury of a child on board of the car. The occurrence has been rated a serious incident, a technical investigation has been opened.
Intersky said, that they are not aware of such an event and so far have not been contacted by the ANSV about the occurrence. Parking on the road around the airport is strictly prohibited during flying operations.
Planespotters often take position on the perimeter road that permits them to get as close as 5 meters (15 feet) to departing aircraft, that start their takeoff roll at the begin of the paved surface and well ahead of the (displaced) runway threshold.
Local residents report, that the perimeter road is now about to be diverted from the runway end.
:wall: :wall: :wall:
